IPEMED, partner of the Mediterranean Action Plan
Following the 19th Meeting of the Contracting Parties to the Barcelona Convention (COP19), in Athens, on 9 and 12 February 2016, the Ministers and the Contracting parties of the Convention approved IPEMED’s candidacy for the status of new partner of the Mediterranean Action Plan (MAP).
For IPEMED, which for ten years has been working towards a greater cooperation between the Northern, Southern and Eastern shores of the Mediterranean via common and sustainable sectorial solutions, this new partnership is a source of opportunities. IPEMED reiterates in particular its role of interface between regional and international organisations, national institutions, the academic world, the private sector and the civil society. The Institute asserts its will to encourage more synergies between the efforts made by the region’s actors to reach a “good ecological state” of the Mediterranean.
