Feedback on the 1st “COPIL” meeting regarding the North African industrialisation project

Published : Thursday 20 April 2017

In 2014, along with its partners, IPEMED launched the Coproduction Observatory, that aims to qualitatively analyse the strategies of Mediterranean investors in order to promote a new win-win economic cooperation model based on shared added value between the North and the South of the Mediterranean.

Since the Observatory also aims to offer public authorities recommendations to remove obstacles to coproduction, IPEMED is willing to strengthen its reflection in 2017 with an extra study on “North African Industrialisation”.

This 3-year activity-study will aim at:

-          Identifying promising sectors for North African industrialisation;

-          Identifying the comparative advantages of North African countries;

-          Identifying the conditions and tools to implement in order to favour the industrial development of the Southern shore, by taking into account existing complementarities between the region’s countries as well as coproduction opportunities;

-          Raising awareness in political and economic decision-makers regarding the above-mentioned issues, in the North and in the South alike;

In order to carry out this programme, IPEMED gathered, on 20 April 2018, the Steering Committee (COPIL) of this programme on its premises. This work meeting enabled to approve the project’s strategic orientations, steps and methodology.

This Steering Committee will gather at least twice a year and will include partners, IPEMED members, institutions and leading figures who share our values and ideas, and who are willing to take part in this collaborative, innovative and prospective project.
