PSC dinner-debate in Quai d'Orsay : to the South!

The 2016 meeting of the PSC welcomed a dinner-debate entitled " To the South: why and how ". It gathered two hundred personalities, among whom several Ministers, Moulay Hafid Elalamy, Moroccan Minister of Industry, Zied Ladhari, Tunisian Minister of Employment, European and African parliamentarian, business managers and founder members of IPEMED such us Xavier Beulin, president of AVRIL, representatives of the academic world and of civil society. This plurality of participants illustrates IPEMED’s capacity to favor the gathering and the dialogue within the great region Africa-Mediterranean-Europe.

In introductory words, Alain Juppé and Matthias Fekl marked their support to this initiative and greeted the relevance of the vision carried out by IPEMED. Alain Juppé, IPEMED’s PSC member, declare: " IPEMED is more necessary than ever... Continue to build La Verticale AME with which our fate will be fruitful and prosperous ".

After the introduction made by Jean-Louis Guigou, Radhi Meddeb and Constant Némale, ten personalities answered the questions of Nassim Kerdjoudj, Vice-president of IPEMED, concerning the Institute’s works during this last 10 years and the relevance of creating a Foundation - La Verticale dedicated to the great region, Africa-Mediterranean-Europe.

The participants underlined the necessity of the implementation of a pact of solidarity between the components of this great world region. Each part of it not being able to remotely meet the major challenges that are employment, security, political stability and a shared and including economic development.

The Foundation La Verticale, a place where actors from academic, economic and political worlds can meet, is a tool that participants appreciate. The reflections implemented by IPEMED over the last 10 years give this Institute the credibility to open up its field of reflection and action to the great region AME.
