Tourism in the mediterranean

The Mediterranean region is the principal tourist destination in the world, with around 300 million international arrivals in 2010. However, in all of the countries bordering the Mediterranean, the tourism sector is in a phase of transition. Factors like climate change, the need to incorporate Euro-Mediterranean transport and facilitate regional mobility, and the new focus on cultural heritage and environmental protection, point to a restructuring of the Mediterranean tourism model.
