The 8th World Water Forum will take place in Brasilia from 18 to 23 March 2018. The preparatory Mediterranean process managed by the Mediterranean Water Institute and the Union for the Mediterranean, has been a unique opportunity to mobilise all the stakeholders and to make original propositions to ensure access to water and sanitation for all in the Mediterranean.

Appointed as coordinators of the working group on the “urban” topic, IPEMED and the Medcities network wished to take advantage of this process to highlight the know-how of cities and operators in terms of reuse of treated waste water (REUSE); as this topic was the main subject of the last United Nations report on the development of water resources.

Consequently a workshop has been organised on 24 October, in Casablanca, in the framework of Pollutec Maroc. Introduced by Kelly ROBIN, IPEMED Project Manager, this event aims to underline some success stories and to take into account the opinion of field actors on the potentiel of REUSE for irrigation.

Among the participants :

  • Olivier CHAZAL, Club ADEME International ;
  • Hajiba BOURZIZA, ONEE ;
  • Caroline ORJEBIN-YOUSFAOUI, Lydec ;
  • Fouad AMRAOUI, President of « Association Recherche Action pour le Développement Durable » et Professor - hydrogeologist at « Faculté des Sciences à l’Université Hassan II » ;
  • Yvan KEDAJ, Deputy General Director, Aqua-Valley.
